OPEN NOW: Call for Proposals for the 2017 Spring Meetings Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF)

The next CSPF will convene in Washington, D.C., from April 18-21, 2017, just ahead of the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings. The Call for Session Proposals was launched on January 24, 2017, and will remain open until February 24, 2017. More information is available on the CSPF website.


Prominent Leaders Add Their Support to World Bank Group's Drive for Climate Action

The World Bank Group announced that a group of prominent leaders will add their support to its efforts to drive climate action that will deliver on the Paris climate change agreement. The three global leaders are: Kofi Annan, Christiana Figueres, and Feike Sijbesma. Click here for more details. 


The World Bank's Environmental and Social Framework (ESF): Update on Implementation

The ESF was approved by the Board in August, 2016. Since then, an implementation team has been working on preparing the roll-out; drafting Guidance Notes for each of the 10 Environmental and Social Standards and preparing staff training and borrower capacity building programs. Meanwhile, the World Bank was awarded the 2017 Global Award of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) for the ESF. International Organizations Seeking Feedback on Tax-related Toolkit

The Platform for Collaboration on Tax - a joint initiative of the IMF, OECD, UN and World Bank Group - has developed a draft toolkit designed to assist developing countries in an important area of international tax policy: transfer pricing. The toolkit addresses the ways developing countries can overcome a lack of data on "comparables", or the market prices for goods and services transferred between members of multinational corporations. Input Needed to Update the World Bank Group Report on Recommended PPP Contractual Provisions

The updated draft Report on Recommended PPP Contractual Provisions is now open for public consultation. This report aims to help contracting authorities - particularly those in emerging PPP markets - gain a better understanding of provisions that deal with specific legal issues regarding PPP agreements, such as force majeure, termination rights and dispute resolution. Deadline Extended - Share your feedback by Feb. 28, 2017.

A new Systematic Country Diagnostic (SCD) guidance was issued to support World Bank Group staff preparing SCDs. It replaced an interim guidance note and was informed by consultations with various stakeholders. In this edition, we highlight the newly completed SCD for Thailand.
